When I started this blog, I thought I should focus it on things that I want to say and basically not try to monetize it at all. Now, I want to also monetize this blog or help my other blogs achieve the monetary goals that I set out for them. I thought this is my first PR4 site and links from here should be able to help my other blogs achieve higher search engine ranking. Higher search engine ranking equates to higher income as you know.

I was never really able to fully use this site as I didn’t have the time. As you can see, I’ve got a handful of blog post which are basically without value at all to me and to readers. This new direction should make this blog more useful. At the same time, preserving the pagerank it has. I’d also like to include it as part of my SEO experimentation.

What will change?
1. I will be putting in affiliate links, banners etc. I probably won’t be putting up adsense ads here though.

2. I will talk about anything and everything. It won’t be limited to “make money online” related posts. I’m actually bored with all the “make money online” writing out there. I feel everything being said is just a repeat. Also, there are already excellent websites that a newbie can go to to learn more about making money online. (Google –> Grizz, Court and BloggerUnleashed)

3. I will be posting more here. Yup. That’s a promise to myself. It might be garbage at times but I promised myself to regularly post on this blog.

4. I will still chronicle my quest on making money online but it just won’t be the focused anymore. There’s already a lot of site doing that.

5. This site will be given more priority and time. I’m currently doing great with the tools I am creating so my time is being freed up giving me more time to spend here. I’m not quite there yet but once my infrastructure is set and running smoothly it should be smooth sailing from there onwards.

What is usually the problem?
When somebody becomes aware that he needs to improve, the first logical thing he usually does is go look for a book. He goes to a library or a bookstore to find a book to read. He then gets inundated by the vast number of available books to read. All touting to be the best. For those books, he couldn’t read a few pages of, he then goes back home with a checklist and checks the internet to see book reviews. It can go the other way too, as the person may want to check the internet first for reviews.

For each book, he then finds reviewers who likes it a lot, like it a little, hate it a lot, hate it a little. Then, he follows the suggestion of other reviewer who sounded convincing that there are better books which happens to be not on his checklist. So, off he goes to check the other books. Do the merry-go-round again, check the book, check the review, check the price, check if it’s freely available in the library. Whee! it becomes so tiring. By the time, he settles on a book. At the back of his mind, he keeps asking, “Did I buy the right book? Should I have bought the other one instead?”

He then buys a book. Read it for awhile. Dig it. Follow “some” of what it says. Doesn’t get any result. Gets impatient. Blames self for not getting the other book. Buy the other book. Reads it. Can’t follow some of the advice but followed some. Finds it hard to follow. Didn’t get any result. Go back to the old book. Read it again. Gets little result. Went online and check other readers. Found other “better” books recommended by these readers. Got tired. Stop for awhile. Got discouraged. End up more clueless than when he first started.

OK. Let’s stop and pause for awhile to THINK.
Aahhh. Finally. That’s the best thing I ever did. If I want to become successful then I should look at myself first in the mirror. Reflect on the things I need to change and work on them. Once I conquer myself, I can conquer anything.

Mental strength, the ability to focus myself to do the things I want to do right away is what I lack. This is my challenge and it’s the lack of it that hinders my success. What is yours? To be successful, don’t think sheep, the answer is not found on other people’s mouth. You got to search it within.

Anyhow, it made me smile as this is my first PR 4 site and kicked my butt to start writing again on this blog. I don’t want it to go down. The only way is up and UP!

The Story
What made it all strange to me is the fact that I wasn’t actively doing anything on this blog. My last post was on April 10. I also didn’t actively seek out any backlinks during the period. In addition, according to my analytics software, I also have very few visitors. A total of about 50+ visitors since the blog started and most of the visits are mine.

When I first started, the first thing I did was to go to Court’s site (CourtneyTuttle.com) and commented just to become one of his top commentators (He doesn’t have this now). I did this just so I can get my site quickly indexed. That’s all I did to get a do-follow link to my site. I also commented on MMO bloggers like Griz (makemoneyforbeginners.blogspot.com) and Vic (bloggerunleashed.com) but those links are no-follow. After the first two weeks, I got stuck with other stuff and sort of neglected this blog. I was never really able to go out and give this site other backlinks. No social bookmarking, no article marketing, link exchange etc. If you check my backlinks at Yahoo, you will only see links from the sites I mentioned (and some others (technorati, few scrapers etc).

It is just now really that I’m starting again on blogging when I checked this site and lo and behold I see a PR4 on the toolbar.

What do I think happened?
I think it’s the strong authority of Court’s blog on MMO that gave me this pagerank. Wow, if it is the only reason why I got a PR4, then getting a PR 4 site is pretty easy then. I just need to find a good authority site that has a high PR and the top commentator plugin and comment away there. Wait for 2-3 months and voila! You now have a PR4 site!

Did the no-follow comment links on Vic’s and Griz’s site helped? Probably, probably not since they are no follow. If you look at the backlinks from yahoo now, you would only see no-follow links too from Court’s site and those audioselect ( Ex. courtneytuttle.com/?audioselect=89010) links. I remember to have more links before, by becoming a Top Commentator.

What’s Next Then?
Of course, more articles on this site so I maintain the PR. Also, the only keyword authority I have, for sure, is on my name. I got to leverage the PR4 and through more articles expand my authority on other keywords. I would also love to replicate it again on another site.

Get the horses ready, I’m off to EXPERIMENTATION!!!

Blogger Unleashed was created to take the veil out of the “Make Money Online” blogging scene. To maximize my time, I read only a few blogs regularly. The rest I read, whenever I have the extra time. The content they have are already enough for me to get started and to experiment on. I haven’t even fully gone back to their archives to read their old articles. I’m sure that their archives contain a lot more nuggets of wisdom.

To get started is the key. Reading a lot of blogs lead to procrastination and information overload. Limiting yourself to a few good blogs will give you plenty of time to implement the advice and knowledge you learn. You don’t need to know everything at once. You just need a good grasp of the basics.

The information you will get from the above blogs contain really good advice you can use to get started. They are also very responsive to their readers, something that is very important to a newbie. I would also suggest that you comment frequently on these blogs. Comment actively and try to gain the friendship of the authors. Be their top commenter and surely they will take notice of you. That is what I plan to do. Some may even give you an extra help in your quest.

In summary, limit your reading time and increase your “implementation” time. Understand the basic and then get started. Work more on your sites. The more time you spend working and experimenting, the greater chance of making more money online.

Internet marketing should be treated as a business. As such, I’m in the process of creating a schedule to make it part of my daily routine. As with any endevour, discipline is very important. I need to have a plan and I have to strictly follow it. Every newbie should realize that money doesn’t come right away. It takes work, hard and smart work. I see myself working longer hours on this specially in the beginning as I learn and build my portfolio of sites.

My short-term monetary targets
1. To reach a stable USD$7 a week or USD$1 a day ($28 a month).
2. To reach a stable USD$35 a week or USD$5 a day ($140 a month).
3. To reach a stable USD$140 a week or USD$20 a day ($560 a month).
4. To reach a stable USD$420 a week or USD$60 a day ($1680 a month).
This amount is enough to cover my monthly living expense

My short-term targets are going to be the focus of my daily effort. Right now, that is to earn USD$1 a day. Once I’ve achieve that, I would then focus on number 2, to reach $5 a day and so on and so forth. A good milestone would be if I reach number 4, as that amount would be able to cover my monthly living expense.

My Long-Term Financial Goal
1. To reach a stable $700 a week or $100 a day (2800 a month).
2. To maintain this earning and to earn and save more of it.
3. To earn $1M a year, from internet marketing and other non-internet marketing investment.

The long-term goal is there as a guide. It sets the direction for all my effort. It helps to have a long-term goal as I can see days when I will question all the efforts I’m putting in IM, specially if money is not coming in as expected. Having a long term goal is key so I can visualize the paths I need to take to reach my goal. Also, using war as an analogy, I see a series of battles before I can win it. Some of the battles I will definitely lose. But with a long-term view of things and with the goal firmly intact. I can never be discouraged if I lose some battles. Every winner have failed at some point before they win their war. The key to success is commitment to the long term goal.

I’m sure every newbie has received emails and have seen sales pages similar to the above. Funny, yes… and sad .. As a newbie, I searched the internet for information on how to make money online, and came upon a lot of these useless junks.
